Geomatics

Acquisition, development, description, analysis and management of metric and thematic data, related to the Earth's surface, or to portions of it.

It's included the urban environment, the infrastructures, the architectural and cultural heritage, identified by their spatial positions and qualified by the precision of the surveying. These frameworks have as subjects, the realization and the analysis of GNSS permanent stations networks for real-time positioning and for the definition of global and local reference frames, the instruments and the methods for monitoring movements and deformations of the soil and structures, and for cultural heritage preservation; the updating of topographical maps and of topographical DB; the surveying of trajectories and infrastructures, the mobile mapping, the production of digital terrain models and surfaces, the production and the management of multidimensional, multi-temporal geographical information.

The approaches to the problems, are both theoretical and experimental with special emphasis on metrics and statistical validation of the results.
