Abstract
The Laboratory for road Opera-tions, Perception, Simulators and Simulations (LEPSiS) was created in 2009 as a multidisci-plinary effort (incl. computer vision, vision science, cognitive psychology, movement science, automatic control, artificial intelligen-ce and applied mathematics) to foster innova-tive solutions for the safety and mobility of road and street users. The researchers deve-lop and implement knowledge and tools to col-lect, characterize, comprehend and simulate the behaviors of drivers, cyclists and pede-strians as they interact with the infrastructu-re and the other users in various lighting and visibility conditions. The two main topics of research are Perception and Virtual Reality, with applications encompassing a wide range of adaptive road safety systems both vehicle and infrastructure-based.
